20th – Hard Frost & very cold with fresh N.W. Wind. Went to Town, return’d to dinner – Prepar’d for killing Hogs tomorrow. Sent to Town for a Horse, purchased in Richmmond by Mr. B. J. Harris, he is a handsome Roane but unfortunately Lame.

16th Rainy morning, but clear’d up at 12 O’Clock with Wind at N.W. A false alarm this smorning that the British were coming up the River which subsided when the Fog clear’d away – Went to Town, return’d to Dinner
