The first part of these 24 hours commences from Calm and a rolling swell from the SW. At 8 light breezes and rains. At 10 PM light winds from the NNE. Jibed ship, and set the Mainsail.Latter part moderate winds and clear weather. At 4 AM wove ship. At 9 set the Foresail and sent up Top gallenyard. At 11 Made two sail to windward, bearing SSW. Made all sail in chase. At 12 discovered one to be a Brig of war the other a ship, which stood to the SE. The Brig made all sail in chase of us. at 3 came on foggy lost sight of her
