10 Sunday – Cloudy & Sultry day, rode by Furley to the Orchard. Mrs. T went to Church & din’d at Mr. Wirgmans, return’d in the evg with F. Bowly, S. Stewart & P. Merony. Din’d at Home alone – Wind S.E.

10th July
The first part of these 24 hours commences with fine breezes and clear weather. At 6 PM took in the Top Gallensails.Middle part Same. At 1 AM handed the Main Topsail and took one reef in the Fore Topsail. At 2 Bailed up the Foresail.
Latter part pleasant breezes and fine weather.

9 – Fine day & cool – Wind S.W. Went to Town, return’d to dinner – Mrs. T & Sally Stewart drank Tea at Mr. Peters, who call’d at Clifton this morning ~ Made a Stack of Hay & put a large quantity in cocks

The first part of these 24 hours. Pleasant breezes and clear weather. At 12 AM set the Squaresail, F. Top mast Studding sail and Lower Studdingsail. At 4 PM called all hands to quarters to exercise [?]. at 8 PM took in the Squaresail and studdingsail, and set the main Topsail.Middle part pleasant breezes and foggy weather. At 3 AM the throat halliards of the main sail gave way. Took in the mainsail and [?] the halliards again.
Latter part more clear.

8 July – Very fine cool day – Wind N – Went to Town, return’d to Dinner – Very busy mowing & making Hay for which the weather is beautiful, had ten Men at Work – R. & M. Peters return‘d home in the evg.

These 24 hours commences with moderate breezes and a thick fog. at 4 PM called all hands to quarters to Exercise [&] at 8 PM took in the Main Topsail, and one reef in the Fore Topsail.Middle part variable weather with light rain. At 1 AM took the second reef in the Fore Topsail- Latter part Same.

7 – Remarkably pleasant day Wind N.W. & Term. only 78. Finish’d hauling up Rye, of which I have a large Crop & in fine order – Din’d at home, & afterwards went to Town and excercised my Men at Artillery Drill in the Riding School, performed tolerably well ~ Rebecca & Maria Peters din’d at Clifton & staid all Night – Had 10 men mowing, making Hay & Stacking – beautiful evening

The first half of these 24 hours with variable winds and foggy weather. At 6 PM took one reef in the Fore Topsail. Inspected the cartridges of the guns. found them all in good order. Middle part foggy weather. Latter part more clear, made and took in sail accordingly.

6 – Fine Hot day – Term. 88, Wind S.W. – Staid at Home to assist in getting up my Rye, haul’d 29 Cart Loads, made 3 Stacks & put a good deal in Barn Loft, did a great days work. Mrs. Stewart & Fanny Bowly came out to Dinner & afterwards to Furley
