7 – Remarkably pleasant day Wind N.W. & Term. only 78. Finish’d hauling up Rye, of which I have a large Crop & in fine order – Din’d at home, & afterwards went to Town and excercised my Men at Artillery Drill in the Riding School, performed tolerably well ~ Rebecca & Maria Peters din’d at Clifton & staid all Night – Had 10 men mowing, making Hay & Stacking – beautiful evening

July 2 – cloudy all day and cool, Wind N.E. Went to Town, return’d to Dinner. Mrs. T. & S. Stewart walk’d to Mr. H. Nicols and drank Tea ~ Mr. Martin rode out in the Evening ~ Had 15 men reaping Cradling & hauling Rye, & finish’d cutting all I have, say about 30 acres, with which we have been lucky, as it has not rain’d since we commenc’d, & all the hirelings behav’d well, & are satisfied, indeed much pleas’d with their treatment –

29th June – Fine Hot day Wind S.E. Went to Town return’d to Dinner – Mrs. T din’d with Mr. Wm. Hollins & return’d home in the evg. with P. Merony & Sally Stewart – Commenc’d reaping Rye & made a Hay Stack in meadow next Mr. Stewarts which is very clear of Weeds, and in excellent Order, no rain upon it ~

25 – Fine clear day – Wind N.W. Did not go to Town to day, but rode over to the Meadows, being busy ploughing for Oats and had 8 bushels of Clover Seed Sown this day on Rye & Wheat, the Ground being in fine order ~Mrs. T. & Children return’d from Town, having been at Mrs. Wirgmans 6 days –
