5th – Sunday – Fine day, very warm, Wind S.W. Had the following to Dinner, Mr. Mrs. & Sam Bowly, Mr. & Mrs. Chas & Peter Wirgman, D. A. Smith & H. Moore, Mr. & Mrs. Hollins & Sarah. After dinner the following call’d, staid Tea & Strawberries & Cream, Mr. & Mrs. Nicols, Col. Nicols, Mr. Holliday, St. Sterett, Augusta & Mary, Eliza Peters, Geo. & James Brown. We had pick’d out of the Garden this day about 30 Quarts of Strawberries and all our Friends had as many as they could possibly Eat, both at Dinner & Tea

11th – Rain’d all Night with very high Wind at S.E. and the highest Tide in Town, I ever remember ~ Went to Town, return’d to Dinner and had the following company ~ Jn. Allen, Powell, Sheppard, Koning, Robt & Jo. Patterson, S. Sterett, OBrien, Wichelhausen, L. Goodwin, J. Hollingsworth, C & P. Wirgman

19th – Cloudy day – Wind East ~ Did not go to Town but to the meadows with all hands to clear a way for new Fence next the run & haul away all the Thorns from hedge cut down – Mr. Alex Brown & C. Wirgman call’d at Clifton in the evening – Fred haul’d 4 loads Rails~

2nd Mar – Rather more mild today, and the Wind Lo, but chang’d in the evening to N.W. and blew very fresh ~ Had the following Gentmn. to Dine with Col Fitzhugh – Col Hall, Mr. Nicols, S & Jo. & Jas. Sterett, Alex. Brown, C. & P. Wirgman, Genl. Ridgely, in the evg. Dan Fitzhugh came out and staid all night with his Father

20th Sunday – Fine weather continues, Rode to Fortune & mark’d some trees for cutting down ~ S & Jo. Sterett, C & P. Wirgman & Mr. Moore din’d with us aftgerwards Doct & Jn. Brown rode out and sat an Hour Wind South

“2 Jan. Sunday. An uncommonly fine and mild day – The following Gentlemen din’d with us – Messrs Gray, Lucas, Tenant, S & Jo. Sterrett, Moore & C. Wirgman, afterward Doct. Gibson & Jacob Hollingsworth rode out in the evening I walk’d to Mr Nicols and sat an Hour -“
